Has Potential for Biodiesel, Used Cooking Oil is Often Made Domestically

Indonesia has a wealth of used cooking oil or used cooking oil which is quite abundant.
Unfortunately, used cooking oil has not been used properly in the country. Executive Director of the Association of Indonesian Vegetable Oil Industries (Gimni) Sahat Sinaga said, based on GIMNI estimates, the amount of used cooking oil in Indonesia currently ranges from 18 to 22 percent of the total consumption of ordinary cooking oil. So, if the use of ordinary cooking oil is around 5.8 million tons per year, the volume of used cooking oil is around 1.1 million tons per year. There are various sources of used cooking oil. Some of them are used for household use, hotels, restaurants, roadside stalls, to factories. Many people in Indonesia clean used cooking oil which is a mixture of black and brown until it becomes clear. Unfortunately, not a few parties return used cooking oil to retail traders and traditional markets to resell it to the public. Understandably, the consumption of cooking oil in Indonesia is quite high, especially for many people who like to eat fried foods.
