1.8 Million Hectare of Palm Oil in Forest Area Called Unlicensed

The non-governmental organization Kehati Foundation stated that 1.8 million hectares of oil palm plantations in forest areas throughout Indonesia do not have permits.
Director of the Sustainable Palm Oil Program at the Kehati Foundation, Irgan Bakhtiar, said that as of 2020, his party recorded a total of 3.4 million hectares of oil palm plantations located in forest areas. Of this amount, 1.6 million hectares are owned by large corporations and have permits obtained from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK).
